Meet Kerri

Kerri Sunny Wren Gardens

Hello there! I’m Kerri, a wife and a mother to two endlessly curious children and another on the way. I love helping and encouraging others to find joy in gardening.

I grew up on a farm in Iowa. Surrounded by family, fields, and fun, I learned many valuable lessons. Some lessons were learned the hard way (don’t test the zapping power of an electric hog-prod on the metal gate you’re sitting on… if you know, you know,) and the rest were learned from participating in my family’s daily rhythms.

We had a fairly large food garden, and the memories that stick out the most are crawling around our strawberry patch looking for red beauties, digging potatoes for dinner, and snapping green beans in the shade of our best climbing tree with my mom. She grew lots of flowers around our house, and I’ll never forget the summer she let me dress up the flower bed closest to our front door with oodles of snapdragons and daisies. I loved it!

Even now, those are some of my favorite flowers to grow. They’re beautiful, reliable, and they make me happy just to look at them. We don’t stop the gardening at flowers, though. We grow all sorts of vegetables for our family, enough that we have plenty to share with extended family and friends. The whole process from seed to table is so fulfilling (and so much of the best kind of work!)

The Sunny Wren Gardens blog exists to serve you. Offering tips, ideas, and inspiration, I want to help you grow pretty & productive outdoor gardens. Happy growing, friends!

You can also find me sharing gluten-free recipes, homeschool reads & resources, and adventure school fun over at The Sunny Wren.
