Hello!

When we moved in to our home on edge of town, the yard was empty. Not a garden in sight! Over the last decade, we planted and planted, rearranged, and then planted some more. Last fall, the yard was finally just right – just one season before we decided it was finally time to follow the tug on our hearts and move our family in a different direction.

So, early this spring, we started taking steps to move our family out to the country. We re-homed our chickens, bought our acreage, pulled weeds in empty gardens all summer, moved into our RV, and sold the house. (If only it was as simple as that, ha!) It was such a wonderful place for our family to begin life together.

The garden – that property – was never truly ours. As King David wrote in Psalm 24, “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell within.” We were the caretakers for a while, and now there are new caretakers to add their creative spin on it. Someday, it will be someone else’s to enjoy. Our homes are a gift that we get the privilege of maintaining.

What’s next? Our cornfield-turned-acreage is ready for a new story. By the grace of God, we will live on and care for this property for many decades – until we’re quite old and quite gray – and then we’ll joyfully hand the reins over to the next generation.

Looking forward to sharing more of this adventure with you.
